The Rev. Joseph Howard Rhodes, 85, Climax Springs, formerly of Festus
Apr 11, 2018Joseph Howard Rhodes, 85, of Climax Springs, formerly of Festus, died April 6, 2018, at NHC Osage Beach Health Care Center in Osage Beach. Rev. Rhodes was a U.S. Marine Corps drill sergeant and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired Pentecostal pastor of 45 years, having churches in Missouri and Arkansas. He served as district superintendent of Southern District Presbyter, District Secretary and on the District Board of Directors. Born May 21, 1932, in Fortescue, he was the son of the late Muriel (Toney) and Roy Earl Rhodes.He is survived by his wife: Donna (Dodd) Husong Rhodes of Jefferson City; two sons: Darryl (Darlene) Rhodes of Farmington and Ronald Roy (Brenda) Rhodes of Climax Springs; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his first wife: Genetha Frankie (Doss) Rhodes; a son: James Earl Rhodes; and a sister: Marilyn Soliday.Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Radiant Life Church, 11533 Gamel Cemetery Road, in Festus. Visitation is at 11 a.m. and a funeral service at noon Wednesday, April 11, at the church. Burial with full military honors is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. (Leader Publications)
